I’m sure I am not the only one who feels that life is ‘quickening’ with many uncertainties and even chaos – in our personal lives, in Denmark, in the world! Life is also full of promise, possibilities and pleasures. In this beautiful paradise of Denmark, as in every other place and system, it is timely to ask that question: ‘What should our future be like?’ as different from, ‘what will our future be like?’ The latter puts us out of the creative seat and into accepting what is and what comes at us.

 

Drs Ian and Ruth Gawler, renowned medical pioneers in ‘Creating Better Health and Preventing Disease’ are through my invitation coming to Denmark in April. This rare and exciting opportunity to learn from the tops in Australia has propelled me to ask: ‘How can we as a whole town create Health, Happiness and Prosperity?’ The ‘Wellness’ principles and practices that an individual can learn to apply are in many ways the same for every living system – family, organization, business and community. How can we use the Gawler Workshop to motivate and skill us to create an enduring sense of ‘Wellness’ for the whole of Denmark.

 

If asked ‘What attracted you to live in Denmark and what would you like your life here to be like?’ I’m sure many of us would have practical intangibles like living a healthy, happy and prosperous life up high on our wish list. Perhaps like me, ‘Living The Dream’ is a core vision and value. Denmark in spite of all our challenges, conflicts and problems is a place where ‘Living The Dream’ can naturally be realized. I would suggest that Denmark is more distinctive and desirable than Mandurah, Margaret River or Broome. That is why so many of us have come as pioneers, alternative and artistic lifestylers and tree/sea changers. Our rich fabric of people, talents and resources puts Denmark in a great position to create a preferred and best future rather than wait for a probable one!

 

To create this ‘preferred future’ I have got out of my comfortable and safe place and invited key leaders in this town to a “Strategic Conversations Meeting(s) – ‘Creating A Well and Prosperous Denmark’. My sincere hope is that as our leadership can become more aligned, we as a whole community will participate more coherently and with more capacity when larger community consultation and conversational forums eventuate. I am delighted to say that our Chamber of Commerce was so enthusiastic about this proposal that more than the three invited Board members are wanting to join in on this Conversation 2013. The momentum has begun and the invitation is for each of us to begin Conversations with our groups and communities. Watch this space for your invitations for a preferred future!
